Thoughts along the way Albert Low's articles about life

'Religion is under attack' is the introduction to Albert's blog at www.albertlow.wordpress.com where he will periodically, about once per month, post thoughts and articles about religion in general and practice in particular. Albert has decided to open up the website to the public at large in order to make it more interesting. As you will see, a space is available on the blog where you can post your comments and questions. Albert has only a general idea of what he will put up on the blog: the specifics will depend on you. He will not reply directly to your questions, but will blend his replies into the postings. He urges you to keep your comments brief: a couple of sentences at the most, otherwise you will crowd out the comments and replies of others. Also please be sincere, ask those questions or make those comments that are meaningful and come from the heart rather than the head. He regrets he will not be able to have the posting translated into French. However, if you would like to comment in French then by all means please do so.

Monique Dumont has kindly taken over the work of organising sesshins. So please address sesshin applications to dumontm@vif.com in the future. Applications need to be received at least two weeks before the start of sesshin, so that decisions can be made and people given time to make arrangements for attending sesshin. Please click here for further information about sesshin applications.

Please note: once you have sent your sesshin application look for a reply acknowledging that your email has been received. If you do not get a reply either resend the email making sure address is correct dumontm@vif.com

A new book by Albert Low.

''Zen teacher Albert Low has written a book, quite unlike the usual Zen book. He collected questions from his students about Zen practice and wrote the book as responses to these questions. From the quality of these questions, you can tell the strength of commitment, sincerity and sheer human curiosity his students bring to the practice of Zen.  In return, Low gives a longtime teacher's advice on all aspects of Zen practice.''

Seshin Guidelines:

The Seshin Guidelines have been compiled in order to enhance the environment of a sesshin.

During sesshin we work together for the benefit of all participants including ourselves. What happens to one happens to all. Even though you may not be consciously aware of others, what they do still affects you.

These guidelines come from many years' experience in Japan, America and Canada. They are reduced to the minimum and made as brief as possible. Please be sure to read the instructions carefully before sesshin. If you need any further explanations, please ask a monitor or the greeter for help.

It will be assumed that you have read the guidelines and are willing to comply with them if you are attendinging a sesshin. Please be sure to abide by them in spirit as well as in word.

In order to download a pdf copy of the guidelines please click on the button below.

(these guidelines will be downloadable permanentlly from the page about Sesshins )

The Center needs more volunteers to help with setting up the house for sesshin.
